If you’re a mom, you’ve had this feeling: “Shoot! I’m behind!”
You know what? That’s not always a discipline problem – sometimes there’s something else behind it you need to pay attention to.
My client came to me recently with this same exact issue, so we delved into this together. Here’s what I asked her:
Were those tasks truly essential for today?
If so, why didn’t you do them earlier?
What got in your way?
Remember – no guilt, just observation.
You had a reason for whatever you chose to do (or not do), so let’s find out what it was.
Then we can see if you want to make a different choice tomorrow, or whether you just physically can’t get to that thing in the time you have.
So, if this is you today, take a page from my client and journal on what’s causing this feeling of being behind on your to-do’s.
You may find that you were doing other good things with your day – or that you’re not allowing enough time for each task or project on your list – or that your kids are just moving really slowly this season and eating up almost all of your margin time.
That’s okay.
The point is to see what’s going on – really see that – and then change your thinking around your task expectations.
It can be as easy as that.
