Does it feel like planning and following the Spirit’s lead can’t go together? Are you conflicted about where the line is between worldly advice and commonsense wisdom?
That’s exactly what we’re exploring today: the role of planning (if any) in Biblical decision making.
Because I think you absolutely can have both (a plan and a leading), and here’s why.
Wise decisions from the Bible
Proverbs mentions planning and wise decisions all over the place. And #Momlife Made Easy is just the nitty gritty “I’m a mom raising my kids and running a business” version of that.
So yes, planning can absolutely be done to the glory of God.
You’re planning – anticipating – how to best fulfill the recurring responsibilities He’s gifted you with – and also how to roll with the unexpected ministry punches (child or otherwise!) He sends your way.
We don’t marry the plan; we marry the One who makes the plan *for* us.
And we change it anytime He tells us to.
That doesn’t sound so un-Christian, does it?
We plan to serve, not serve the plan. And that makes everything okay.
Flexing to His glory
You see, when we come to our planner with the right heart attitude, it then it truly *is* about doing everything to the glory of God. Working heartily to fulfill our responsibilities to *Him*.
Not about the latest bullet journaling fad or the prettiest planner artwork.
So here’s what I want to leave you with: God’s never against planning. He’s just against us doing all the planning without Him.
So find a way to bring God into your schedule – whether that’s a 5-second prayer every time you sit down to plan your week, to reframe the tasks you’re about to do – or whether you need to plan during a prayer time so you can really go through everything on your goals and dreams list with Him.
Whichever works best for you.
Me? I’m doing a little of both.
I’ll talk to God during my random “time to dream” sessions, and I’ll remember to invite Him into my nitty-gritty, what-I’m-doing-this-week-to-get-there planning level.
What are you going to change for your next planning session, so that you can truly say you’re doing it *with* God?
