We’ve been talking about getting an ideal day, but in reality, an ideal week’s just as important.
You can like your life most days, then have the most horrible weekend ever, and really miss that recharge time ‘cause you’ve got to dive straight back into the work week.
How to know God cares
Listen. God cares about all of it.
How you use your day, how you set up your week, even how you plan your month! (Yes, He can see your calendar.)
You may be called to a ministry, friend meet-up, or some other thing in your life that’s not a daily appointment. God still cares about that part of your mission!
So we’re going to rework your schedule, on a weekly and a monthly basis, so that everything He’s called you to in this season slots in nicely.
Because you’re more than just your day-to-day opportunities – and God has a plan for these extras, too. (Of course!)
That’s why this higher-level planning is so important. (Not just getting through your day.)
How to pray through your calendar
So, here’s how you do this. (I’m assuming you’ve got your calendar out or your online one pulled up.)
Look at this week’s view, and pray over each new reminder on your calendar. Doesn’t have to be a big thing, just a 10-second prayer.
“Lord, is this appointment from You?”
And then give yourself another 10 seconds of stillness to hear the answer.
Don’t worry if you don’t hear anything right away – this takes practice, and a lot of what’s on your calendar may be divinely approved for your season anyway!
We’re just making sure that every single thing on there is in line with His purpose for our family this season.
Then, start making notes on anything He tells you no about. Find out how to get out of those appointments, commitments, or activities.
Because He just told you to do something, and when He does, we obey.
How to follow His leading
Is there something sitting on your weekly schedule, right now, that you know He doesn’t want you doing? That’s too much for the family He’s called you to?
What about your monthly calendar? Is everything on there for sure what He wants you to volunteer at, drive to, or host?
It’s okay to rock the boat and say, “I’m sorry, but God told me not to” when that’s the truth.
And as Christians, we really are supposed to be following His leading in *everything* in our lives.
I don’t care if your church friends think God would never tell you to drop a ministry or quit taking your kids to youth group or something.
God doesn’t always play by man’s rules – and He certainly reserves the right to shake up our traditions and ways of doing things.
So you just follow where He leads you, and set your face like flint about it.
There’s Biblical stubbornness (the approved kind!) for you.
What needs to change in your weekly and monthly schedule to fully align with His purpose for you today?
