You’ve probably (hopefully!) already dealt with your personal week. Made it reflect your family’s priorities, obligations, and personalities so that you actually enjoy living (seen from the birds’ eye view).
But what about your business week? Do you have a good rhythm for that?
Sure, you have some daily time blocks and know your energy slumps and all that – is there anything more for you to learn?
Yes, there is, and it’s called designing your week. You do it for your home, so why not do it for your business, too?
Don’t worry, I’m not going to force you into a certain mold!
What’s your project cycle?
So the first thing we need to do is pay attention to your weekly cycles.
Do you tend to work in project blocks (that span multiple weeks), or do you do better with a standardized to-do list that spells out what you need to accomplish each week?
Or here’s a 3rd way: do you like to focus on content creation for a whole day, then handling client needs another full day, and maybe guest interviews/business collabs on a third?
Basically, all we need to do here is find out which way makes sense to your brain.
- Do you want a themed week? (Everything’s about recording my new course.)
- A themed day? (Every Tuesday I work on my course.)
- A themed daily time block? (Every morning I work on my course.)
You get to choose here. Which sounds like it aligns best for you?
Ignore everyone else
Go ahead and ignore what everyone else is telling you about “Tuesday client days are the only way my copywriting agency succeeds” or “every week prep your content for the next” if your brain doesn’t function best with those constraints.
Just throw it all out the window. Since we DO know what you like to do, how ‘bout we set things up that way in your calendar, planner, or project software?
As long as it’s working for you, you shouldn’t feel pressured to change your personal productivity system.
And that goes for your business just as much as your home life.
(Here’s where I’ll note that if your home life needs help, too, that’s perfectly normal – you’re a regular mom, running a business, and you don’t have to be perfect. You just have to get help.)
So hop in #Momlife Made Easy, where I’ll walk you through how to set up your own productivity system – whether that’s scheduled or loose – to suit your daily needs as a working mom!
‘Cause that’s how I finally got out of the internet rabbit hole trap, and quit beating myself up about how clean or not my house was – so I know this works for you, too.
Set your own reminders
So. What are *your* recurring reminders going to be? First week of the month is this? First day of the week is this? X time block during my day (every day) is this?
Personalize this to *your* business’s tasks, and pop each template reminder in your day or week (or month!).
That’s how you adapt business to suit you, not force yourself to suit it – yes, even the to dos.
Now. What are you going to add, alter, or delete from next week’s to do list?
Next month’s?
What about tomorrow?
Go make those changes, and get ready to enjoy a system that suits the way YOU do things down to the ground.
Because you’re a unique human being, and you deserve that level of support.
You’ve got this. Now go out there and make it happen.
