So when I’m feeling stuck on what I want – I want to ask myself this question:
What if this gets to be easy?
‘Cause my motivator is always going to be my gut ability to see the easiest way this could happen. The lowest-lift path toward all this working out.
And that’s my superpower.
Not brainstorming a thousand-and-one ways this could work – not looking for all the holes and problem areas to fix – just asking “how could I let this be easy.”
And then following that answer when it comes.
OK, so as a manifestor, I need to delegate as much as possible.
‘Cause I’m not actually meant to have the internal battery power to work a full day on my business – even though I love it.
So I’m going to either feel ginormously lit up and inspired and so full of energy to execute on something that’s my latest brainwave….
Or like I just have no energy and zero desire to work on anything. Except fun stuff that counts as giving myself a break (like podcast binging!).
So I have to give myself the freedom to work more in these burst/rest cycles – without letting other people make that be wrong – and setting my deadlines up in such a way that I don’t have to on every week.
(Now, of course, to do this, I’m going to need to delegate a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Both in my home and my business. So I need to make sure I’ve got a bunch of outsourcing built in there around anything that involves executing on all the details, responding to customer service messages/basic client q’s/etcetera, any house cleaning type stuff, just pretty much anything that can be handed off to a capable subordinate. Which gives me the freedom to produce/create/show up when I’m on, and have all that stuff batched/ready to go for when I’m not.)
Now, of course, I have to look at my budget before I go out and “hire 3 more contractors” ‘cause I magically have the money for all that – that’s my end game – but I can make sure I’m aligning my work style with exactly what goes on during my day.
So for me, I need to double check whether I’m working in what I would consider a tidy, same place-same time work environment.
Like whether I have a regular workspace, that’s laid out according to how I like it, with my preferred level of neatness and access.
(And it will be neat according to my standards – doesn’t have to be the OCD person’s version of “all tidied up.”) But I need to be following a version of “everything in its place” that works for me – and make sure I’m giving myself this.
And I’m also going to want to be able to choose which thing I feel like working on (for different blocks of my day and also my week). I don’t want a pre-approved “must do this and this and this in exactly this order on these certain days” kind of schedule.
And the other thing my brain wants to do is to actually give myself the freedom to just work on what feels next to me under each project.
So I don’t want the 20-step plans on how to plan out my content or what have you – I want to just see what my brain pulls out as the next immediate step for me to take. Whether that’s drafting captions, or strategizing pre-launch content, or just free writing the darn thing already to get in the groove.
My brain knows what it needs next; it just needs me to let it (even if that’s not the most “strategic” part to work on next).
So I’m very right brain about picking what I want to work on – and very right brain in terms of how I actually approach starting it. That make sense?
OK. So here’s what I’d recommend for my past self here.
Obviously, big picture, I’m going to need to delegate quite the pile of stuff to make room for all this working in cycles.
And depending on what all’s on my plate – like do I have kids at home still, am I homeschooling, do I need to be helping with homework, am I driving them to band practice, are they neuro-divergent, how much of the house load am I carrying, are they in college prep season, am I driving them to tons of rehearsals, not to mention keeping them in clothes when they’re growing, right, and if I have any special diets I’m responsible for managing….
There’s a lot that goes into just having the space in my day to set up these new routines and outsourcing lists and family and client boundaries now that I know my energy type.
Plus avoiding the mindset icebergs that keep sucking me right back into my old ways of doing things.
(You know, like showing up to work ‘cause that’s how they tell you to build “consistency” even though I know well and good that I just came off of a burst cycle….)
So my past self may not even have had the schedule room to set up her proper right brain working style right now. (Let alone carve out all that free time to start ideating on what I needed to do to fix the rest of this.)
Well actually, she definitely did or I wouldn’t be here right now. 😉
But that’s where I’d leave my past self – she needs to start telling her kids or her husband that there’s going to be some pretty big changes around here in how she’s doing business.
Like in the nitty gritty, how she shows up for work every day mode – and in what she’s going to be expecting them to do.
‘Cause I gotta say, it’s amazing how much less I have to push and fight and “square peg into round hole” myself to make all these revenue goals and big rocks for this quarter when I just scrap all the “standard” time management strategies, and start from the ground making everything suit me.
Which is the totally fun part, I’d say – junking all the “normal” business advice you get on how to run your to-do list, manage your day, how much time you should expect for yourself, everything – ‘cause most of it is really absolutely counter to my Human Design nuances.
And there’s a ton of it – and I’m on a mission to change it.
‘Cause you don’t need to force yourself through your workday to make great money. You can hit every single big priority project this quarter to grow this business.
And you can even 2x your business without taking on 3 more people’s jobs (that you don’t have time for) – because being an entrepreneur gets to be the goal-crushing, non-stressful, count-on-able part of your life.
Not this angst-y, pressured, “how am I going to make this work” thing on top of your house and kids.
And 6 months down the line, what I got to tell myself is that I couldn’t even remember the last time I forced myself into the old way of powering through my day anymore – ‘cause that’s how much my normal way of operating as a biz owner had changed.
Okay. So. Bottom line, my past self needed to get that all figured out – so I wasn’t slowing down my biz like crazy ‘cause of fighting myself and my natural way of working at every step of the way.
So, you can see how that gives me a liiiittle more clarity around what’s going on under the surface of my particular biz-plus-kids balance, plus some lightbulbs around how I’M specifically designed to operate.
‘Cause the fastest way for biz to feel easy – no matter what your revenue and conversion rates and actual clients are doing – is to show up for all of it in a non-draining way, every single day.
That’s how you love business without getting sucked into performance.
Okay, that’s all for now, and have a great day!
