Do you know how to be a 1% woman?
“A 1% woman remembers who the *** she is.” (This is from Cait Scudder.)
Because how many of you were like me, and got into online business because you wanted a challenge and starting your own business seemed like the best way to lean into your ambitions. Anyone raising a hand?
- I never wanted to be an entrepreneur.
- I never sought out being a side hustle mama or a company runner.
- *I* thought that all I wanted to do was stay home. As long as I had plenty to occupy me, that is.
But by the time I had kid number five, I’d gotten the laundry and cooking and cleaning and toy pickup and stuff management decluttering and homeschooling so well out of the way that *I* could spend 3 hours a day on listening to podcasts and reading blogs and doing workouts and stuff – *after* sleeping in!
That was kind of fun for a while, I won’t lie, but when my husband switched to working from home (aka, no more sleeping in for me), I was stumped at the thought of what to do for *five* hours a day. 3 was indulgent and luxurious; 5 was unthinkable.
- I wasn’t starting a new hobby.
- I *didn’t* want to spend more time reading the news.
- And I *certainly* wasn’t going to take back more chores just so I could stay occupied.
That’s right around when I heard about online business, and moms making money from home – and it was the perfect match for my needs.
An all-encompassing new hobby, that takes months or even years to master it, with continually scaling new levels to reach? Sign me up!
It was time to find out exactly how high my goals and ambitions could take me.
(Because I wanted to occupy myself in my stay-at-home time, and NOT by having more kids. Our van was already full.)
So if you didn’t start your business ‘cause you were out of funds and needed money, or you started it “just because” and now you’re feeling guilty, or you worry that your origin story is lacking, don’t be – this takes all kinds.
And YOU don’t have to have started out broke to deserve a chance to succeed.
‘Cause YOUR spot at the table comes from YOUR desire to do online marketing “so that” you can benefit other women.
And that’s all the permission you need.
If you want it, go for it. And I’m here to help you get there.
Because your ability to *reach* these goals goes straight back to your no mom guilt mindset. And if you can’t shake the mom guilt, then your business isn’t going to go very far.
Which is why I’m going to be giving you gentle, daily mindset nudges when you’re coaching with me – because *I* know the power of daily refocusing on your why, your mission, your “get to,” and your brand.
And trust me, it works. You get to have the “me time plus kid snuggles plus checked off business to-do lists,” too.
Because a 1% woman knows that she was created for a purpose.
A 1% woman isn’t going to let anything get in the way of fulfilling that purpose. (If anything does come up, she’s going to take it to God and follow *His* leading of how to push through.)
A 1% woman doesn’t “think” she’s going to make a difference – she *knows* she’s making a difference.
A 1% woman gives up everything lesser in the pursuit of her God-given dream – everything below the God, marriage, family, business line. That’s all negotiable. What *isn’t* is following her passion and being a good steward of her gifts.
A 1% woman understands that to steward those gifts, she needs to commit to showing up scared. Not ready. Half-cocked. And then go for it anyway. She’ll learn along the line.
A 1% woman understands that to steward those gifts, she needs training – mentorship – knowledge – coaches to help her succeed. She doesn’t expect to be the master painter on day 1 (or month 1 or year 1, for that matter).
A 1% woman understands that to steward those gifts, she’s going to need time and practice and failing and learning. She’s not pressuring herself to be perfect, get it right the first time, or any of that. No. She’s just learning, and growing, and doing.
And finally, a 1% woman understands that everyone has a 1% purpose – it’s just that some people don’t show up for theirs. Most people, in fact. And she doesn’t want that to happen to her. She’s not going to stand before God and say that she buried her talent. She’s not going to let her kids get away with an ordinary life, without using *their* 1% gifts. She’s here to make a generational difference.
Because she is a sea change. She is a life beacon. She is a city on a hill.
And she’s not going to let anyone, or anything, come between her and that light.
Here’s the one other thing I know: you’re a 1% woman, too.
How are you showing up like one today?
