You know the minimalism drill, right?
“All you need to do is declutter.” “If you decluttered, then you’d have your life together.”
Except by now, you’re getting kind of suspicious of them and wondering if this whole thing was a scam.
Sure, your house *looks* lighter – and you’re grateful for that, don’t get me wrong – it’s so nice not to see legos all over the floor every hour – but looks don’t make the schedule go ‘round.
Having a pretty house doesn’t fix your overstuffed calendar.
Not having tons of toys to pick up doesn’t automatically turn your kids into little chore helpers for you.
(Wait, I’m done cleaning my room already? Maybe I should go and see if Mommy needs a little bathroom cleaning help…. Said no kid ever.)
This is why you need minimalism AND something. The minimalists aren’t wrong; you did need a good, thorough purge. It’s this western consumerism we all grew up in.
But the bottom line – if you fully want to fix your everyday experience of #momlife – is that you need minimalism AND.
In this case, minimalism and a cleared-out calendar. An unbusy schedule. A minimized #momlife.
Because then? You’ll be enjoying those cleared-off countertops AND seeing white space in your calendar.
You’ll be skipping the stuff shuffle AND enjoying your hour-by-hour life-with-the-kids schedule (maybe for the first time ever).
This is why you need both – both the decluttering AND the productivity hacks.
Because moms don’t just manage the stuff, they manage the kids. And that means productivity efficiency PLUS purging chops are required.
