Here’s what happened to one of my clients recently, and I’m betting you’ve felt the same way.
This woman realized that she preferred to spend time at work, on her business, rather than spend time around the house with her family – and then she figured out why.
Home felt bad; work felt good.
It was as simple as that.
So if you’re in this situation, I want you to remember something: it’s *great* that you’ve turned your workday (or work time blocks) into something so supportive, so fun, so healing for you. Don’t minimize that accomplishment.
But what we *do* want to do here is extend that same level of self-support into your home life. Your rhythms, your house cleaning, your meal planning, your kid time, your homeschooling – all the stuff that’s going on on the mom side of things.
See, guilt isn’t a “you’re a terrible person” marker; it’s a “pay attention to this” marker.
So when you feel guilty for *preferring* to spend time on your business rather than dealing with your home, use that as a spotlight.
Turn that guilt into a flashlight.
What don’t you like about your home?
What is it about the environment that’s repelling you?
What’s in the atmosphere that drags on you?
Answer those questions, and you’ll see.
You’ll see what needs changing.
You’ll see what’s not working.
And you’ll see the glimmer of what home life *could* be, and will be (in your future).
It’s all there. Right in front of you.
All you have to do is to take action.
