So when you’re feeling stuck on what you want – I want you to ask yourself this question:
What do I need to feel more secure about this??
‘Cause your motivator is always going to be your own internal security meter – but it’s not in a fear-based way. You’re naturally designed to care about this.
Do I have enough money. Do I have the right people on my team. Do I have enough time for this. Do we have enough room in our week if I take this on.
It’s the contingency planning, thoughtful questioner, devil’s advocate side of “yes but have you considered this. And that’s your superpower.
OK, so as a generator, you need to delegate what doesn’t light you up.
‘Cause you’re meant to have the internal battery power to work a full day on your business, then have tons of energy for travel – but only if you enjoy what you’re doing in your business.
So there might be specific things you’re doing for it that you don’t enjoy…. Or your energy has been used up by doing maybe house stuff you don’t want to do. (Possibly.)
Just something to sit with.
Now, you may or may not be able to change all that by hiring 3 different people and giving them all the stuff you didn’t get to with your email action-ing and or rabbit-hole to-do list stuff, but we can make sure you’re aligning your work style with exactly what goes on during the day.
So for you, double check whether you’re working in what you consider a tidy, same place-same time work environment.
Like whether you have a regular workspace, that’s laid out according to how you like it, with your preferred level of neatness and access.
(And it will be neat according to your standards – doesn’t have to be the OCD person’s version of “all tidied up.”)
But you’ll have a version of “everything in its place” that works for you – so make sure you’re giving yourself this.
And you’re also going to want to be able to choose which thing you feel like working on (for different blocks of your day and also your week).
You don’t want a pre-approved “must do this and this and this in exactly this order on these certain days” kind of schedule.
So maybe that’s part of what your squirrel brain is actually trying to do – get you into working on something you actually feel like doing today – and you’ve been trying to muscle yourself out of that.
Just something you might want to consider.
And the other thing your brain wants to do is to actually give yourself laid-out, step-by-step project plans or action steps for whatever that mood-chosen to-do is that you want to settle into.
So you’re very right brain about picking what you want to work on – but very left brain in terms of how you actually approach starting it. That make sense?
OK. So here’s what I’d recommend for you from here.
Obviously, big picture, you’re going to need to delegate quite the pile of stuff to make room for all this doing only what lights you up stuff.
And depending on what all’s on your plate – like do you have kids at home still, how much of the house load are you carrying, and if you have any special diets you’re responsible for managing….
There’s a lot that goes into just having the space in your day to set up these new routines and outsourcing lists and family and client boundaries now that you know your energy type.
Plus avoiding the mindset icebergs that keep sucking you right back into your old ways of doing things.
(You know, like doing a whole bunch of stuff just because you “have the energy”….)
So you may not even have the schedule room to set up your proper right/left brain working style right now. (Let alone carve out all that free time to start ideating on what you need to do to fix the rest of this.)
Or maybe you do – hopefully you do.
But that’s where I’d leave you right now – you want to start telling your VA or your OBM or your husband that there’s going to be some pretty big changes around here in how you’re doing business.
Like in the nitty gritty, how you show up for work every day mode – and in what you’re going to be expecting them to do.
‘Cause I gotta say, it’s amazing how much less you have to push and fight and “square peg into round hole” yourself to make all these revenue goals and big rocks for this quarter, when you just scrap all the “standard” time management strategies, and start from the ground up making everything suit you.
Which is the totally fun part, to me – junking all the “normal” business advice you get on how to run your to-do list, manage your day, how much time you should expect for yourself, everything – ‘cause most of it really is absolutely counter to your Human Design nuances.
And there’s a ton of it – and I’m on a mission to change it.
‘Cause you don’t need to force yourself through your workday to make great money. You can hit every single big priority project this quarter to grow this business.
And you can even 2x your business without taking on 3 more people’s jobs (that you don’t have time for) – because being an entrepreneur gets to be the goal-crushing, non-stressful, count-on-able part of your life.
Not this angst-y, pressured, “how am I going to make this work” thing on top of your house and kids.
And 6 months from now, what I’d love to hear from you is that you can’t even remember the last time you forced yourself into the old way of powering through your day anymore – ‘cause that’s how much your normal way of operating as a biz owner has changed for you.
So work with somebody (or multiple somebodies) to get that all figured out – doesn’t have to be me – so you aren’t slowing down your biz like crazy ‘cause you’re fighting yourself and your natural way of working at every step of the way.
One important caveat.
The information I just told you is targeted to the Generator type, but since we don’t know your actual birth time, that may not be correct for you.
So, I found this for you from Catherine Rivers – see which description you resonate most with.
- “Do you have tons of energy throughout the day but often find yourself pushing to make things happen and end up frequently frustrated? This might point you to being in the Generator or Manifesting Generator family.”
- “Does your energy fluctuate a bit during the day? Do you see what others don’t see but get pushback or non-engagement when you share? Do you often find yourself feeling bitter or resentful? Phrases like: Why aren’t people choosing me? Why don’t they see what I have to offer? They don’t respect me? This might suggest you are a Projector.”
- “Manifestors have a strong energy but it can come in bursts, not always consistent. When something gets in the way of a Manifestor, they can experience anger.”
- “Reflectors see the potential and the opportunity in everything and everyone. Disappointment is the Not-Self Theme of Reflectors.”
Now if the Generator description still sounds best, right on.
But if what I told you earlier doesn’t feel right now that you heard those other type descriptors, please let me know and I’ll redo all this for you – I want you to have the most aligned info you can work with.
Otherwise, what good is it?
So just tell me which other type you felt was most accurate – Manifesting Generator, Projector, Manifestor, or Reflector – and I’ll get that worked up for you.
So, I hope that gives you a liiiittle more clarity around what’s going on under the surface of this work-from-home gig, plus some lightbulbs around how you specifically are designed to operate.
‘Cause the fastest way for biz to feel easy – no matter what your revenue and conversion rates and actual clients are doing – is to show up for all of it in a non-draining way, every single day.
That’s how you love business without getting sucked into performance.
Okay, that’s all for now, and have a great day!
